Prayer Update - August 2021

It's been a while since we sent out a family prayer update. So, here's what's going on with the Alber family. This summer has been fun, crazy, busy, and has truly been great. Here are some of the things that happened:

1) We had a family reunion with Tammy's family and celebrated her aunt and uncle's 60th wedding anniversary. 2) Dan lived with my parents while he interned at Chapel Pointe in discipleship ministries.

3) Andy was called to be the Associate Pastor of Student Ministries at Peoples Church in Pinckney, Michigan.

4) Kurt and Tammy got to spend a week at camp with the church youth group, participate in a great Vacation Bible School, have a date visiting Sugarcreek in Amish country of eastern Ohio, and celebrated the 188th anniversary of First Baptist Church.

5) Aaaaannddd...Andy and Cora finally got to have a public wedding celebration and take a real honeymoon! What a great day for the family. WOO HOOO!

Praises

Kurt - Kurt and Tammy's "new" church is very encouraging. New is in quotes because on Sunday, August 22nd the church celebrated it's 188th anniversary!

Tammy - Summer was fabulous. She's excited to finally spend time in Ohio, because she's been running all over the place this summer.

Andy and Cora - The wedding and honeymoon went so, so good. They feel incredibly blessed! Also, they're excited to begin a new ministry in a new town.

Dan - He has had a lot of amazing conversations with friends at Cedarville and feels like he's been able to reconnect with a lot of people.

Ministry

Awaken - First Medina is joining with several other churches in Medina County to devote 30 days to fasting and prayer in September and October. We are humbly asking God to do the work that He loves to do - bring people back into relationship with Him. Please pray as the people of our church ask God to give them names of three people in the community who God is asking them to serve.

Fall Ministries - First is restarting all kinds of ministries this fall as a church. Please pray that people will be excited to serve in our NextGen ministries like Fuse (youth) and Awana.

Requests

Kurt - Please pray that he will draw his strength and wisdom from the Holy Spirit. He would also like you to pray for whole-hearted participation in Awaken for the church this fall.

Tammy - Tammy is joining a team that will bring back First Medina's kids program during the first service. She's also asking for God to work through Awaken this fall.

Andy and Cora - We need prayer for our transition back to Michigan: peace, safety, and selling our house.

Dan - Syllabus stress is a thing. He knows in his head he'll be able to finish all the assignments once he gets in the groove, but internally he's still not there yet.

We are grateful for all of you who pray for us! We need the Holy Spirit working in and through us every day.

What is your favorite pair of shoes?

Can you guess which shoes are whose? Hints: Cora got her favorites while she was walking the stations of the cross in Jerusalem. Tammy is much more concerned with the type of shoe than the style.

Answers: Tammy is showing off her toe nail polish. Andy's style blends in with the carpet, Kurt's does not! The two left are Cora and Dan, and it's pretty obvious who is who.
